Kawasaki Ninja ZX-14R & Special Edition SuperSport
Great
looks, fun to ride and user-friendly
Every now and then a manufacturer builds a motorcycle that defines their
brand in the marketplace. For Kawasaki, that motorcycle is the Ninja
ZX-14. The most powerful production motorcycle in the world, the Ninja
ZX-14 sets new performance standards with the most unbelievable,
absolutely-jaw-dropping acceleration you have ever experienced. But what
makes the Ninja ZX-14 even more incredible is the absolute finesse with
which it commands this power. Smooth and linear from idle to redline, you
don’t have to be a world champion to control this machine.
But it’s not just about horsepower; the Ninja ZX-14 combines its
earth-shattering engine performance with exquisite handling and stability,
sleek aerodynamics and superbly comfortable ergonomics, creating the
ultimate long-range hyper-sports weapon.
The Ultimate Engine
An evolution of the Ninja ZX-12R powerplant, the ZX-14’s 1,352cc
four-cylinder, DOHC engine features a larger bore and stroke while
retaining virtually the same compact external dimensions. Utilising such
high-tech features as chrome composite plated aluminium cylinders and a
32-bit digital fuel injection system, this is the most powerful production
motorcycle engine in the world. Full stop.
Turbine-Like Power Delivery
Even more incredible than the ZX-14’s astonishing levels of horsepower is
the amazing finesse and control with which it delivers it. The superbly
linear spread of torque delivers a seamless flow of power from idle to
redline that belies the potential of the fire-breathing animal that lies
beneath.
Digital Fuel Injection
44mm Mikuni throttle bodies are controlled by a 32-bit Electronic Control
Unit featuring a dual throttle valve system to provide instant throttle
response and a silky smooth power delivery. The system maximises
horsepower while reducing emissions and improving fuel economy.
Ram Air Induction
A central Ram Air duct feeds cool, high-pressure air from the front of the
fairing in a direct path through the air cleaner and into the engine for
maximum power output - As speed increases, so does the air pressure,
effectively force-feeding the engine.
Aerodynamic Styling
Kawasaki’s many years of developing high performance aircraft have come to
the fore with the styling of the ZX-14’s sleek, aerodynamic bodywork.
Highlighted by striking quadruple projector headlights and a unique
V-shaped LED tail light, the ZX-14 is nothing short of stunning – from
start to finish.
Next Generation Chassis
An advanced version of Kawasaki’s unique aluminium monocoque design, The
ZX-14’s chassis is every bit the equal of its power plant. Essentially a
hollow aluminium box that arches over the engine from the steering head to
the swing arm pivot, the frame utilises the engine as a stressed-member to
greatly increase the monocoque’s torsional rigidity.
Precision Handler
Thanks to the forward positioning of the engine, engineers were able to
carefully select the wheelbase dimensions and front/rear weight
distribution to achieve incredible high speed stability and the kind of
fast, responsive handling you never thought a ‘big bike’ was capable of.
Powerful, Responsive Front Braking
Radial mounted 4-piston front brake callipers grip large diameter petal
discs for strong, controlled braking. The petal design provides improved
cooling and warp-resistance while a single pad-per-piston (Instead of one
larger pad for each side) reduces the possibility of pad deformation.
Perfect Ergonomics
Compact without being cramped, the ZX-14 offers a very relaxed
sports-riding position with the handlebars positioned so they can be
reached without a stretch. Low-set foot pegs and a slim chassis provide
ample legroom while the low seat height ensures your feet can be firmly
planted when at a stop.
Full Instrumentation
The ZX-14 features a sleek, modern instrument cluster with an
easy-to-read, white-faced analogue speedometer and tachometer plus a
multi-function LCD digital display incorporating a fuel gauge, gear
indicator, dual trip meters, odometer and clock.

Kawasaki Ninja ZX10R - 2008 - Expected February 2008
All new - once
again!
For the 2008 NINJA® ZX™-10R, Kawasaki engineers aimed for an ideal
superbike with engine and chassis performance capable of satisfying
professional racers, combined with top-notch streetbike qualities for
mainstream riders. It’s a delicate balance, but these aren’t your average
engineers. They’ve been directly involved in the development of every 600
and 1000cc supersport machine since the 2003 Ninja ZX-6R, plus Kawasaki’s
factory Superbike racing efforts, so they have the know-how to deliver the
goods.
The result is an exceptionally communicative machine that provides the
clean two-way rider/machine dialog demanded by
professional racers. Placing the ZX-10R in the racing crucible and
applying lessons from that unforgiving environment resulted in an ideal
balance to satisfy the most demanding of riders. Japanese Superbike racer
Akira Yanagawa was the man pushing the engine and frame components to the
limits of their performance in actual competition. Parts that met with
Yanagawa’s approval were then tried on the production test bike, tweaked,
retested on the racer and adjusted again. This process was repeated
throughout the development cycle for the all-new 2008 Ninja ZX-10R.
At the heart of this capable package is a new engine tuned for even
greater high-rpm performance, without sacrificing the stellar mid-range
performance of its predecessor. Refinements include installing secondary
fuel injectors, changing to oval throttle bodies and reshaping the intake
ports. Intake flow was further enhanced with reshaped ram air ducts and a
larger airbox that feeds into the new oval shaped velocity stacks. Exhaust
efficiency was boosted with a new system that not only flows better but
generates less noise and emissions.
To suit the enhanced power delivery, the transmission features new gear
ratios for 1st, 4th and 5th gears along with an extra tooth on the rear
sprocket. Quick downshifts can be executed without risk of upsetting the
fine-tuned ZX-10R chassis thanks to its easily adjustable slipper clutch.
These changes make it essentially a race-ready engine with performance
similar to Kawasaki’s factory Superbikes.
Professional riders know it’s useless to have the most power if you can’t
get it to the ground. The 2008 Ninja ZX-10R features a new Kawasaki
Ignition Management System that assists with torque management by
monitoring throttle opening, gear position and rate of RPM change, then
retarding ignition timing to reduce torque when sudden unwanted RPM spikes
are detected. This system doesn’t interfere with normal operation and
still allows the engine to rev freely under typical riding conditions.
A superb engine deserves a superb chassis, and this is where the new
ZX-10R really shines. To achieve the best-possible handling, Kawasaki used
the lessons learned at the track to build a list of refinements including:
changing the length of the steering tube and moving it 10mm forward,
alleviating stress concentrations through subtle changes to the frame
stampings (switching concave parts to convex pieces), increasing the wall
thickness around the relocated swingarm pivot, adding ribbing on the
interior of the pivot plate, and mounting a narrower, two-piece sub-frame
to the main frame’s upper cross member.
With a fully-adjustable 43mm inverted fork and a new swingarm that uses
pressed instead of cast beams, the ZX-10R’s track orientated suspension
endows the chassis with better feedback. Refinements include adding a
Diamond Like Carbon (DLC) coating to the fork tubes for less stiction and
enhanced feedback, relocating the springs to the bottom of the fork for
reduced oil frothing, and new settings that are better-suited for
racetrack use. Rear suspension changes include dual (low and high-speed)
compression damping on the fully-adjustable rear shock for better
fine-tuning, a new mounting spot for the Uni-Trak® linkage and a re-shaped
swingarm with a top-mounted brace.
No part was left untouched on the ZX-10R, even the wheels are new.
Produced using a squeeze-casting process instead of the earlier gravity
casting method, the new wheels are lighter, stiffer and more precise, to
perfectly match the new chassis. The lower unsprung weight of the wheels
helps improve suspension action and their reduced rotational inertia
provides quicker steering and acceleration.
Braking duties are handled by radial mounted Tokico brake calipers
squeezing new 310mm petal discs which are 10mm larger for 2008, and
feature reduced thickness from 6 to 5.5mm for better heat dispersion. The
rear is a 220mm petal disc squeezed by a single-piston caliper. Unsprung
weight was reduced by switching the disc housings and brake calipers to
aluminum. The new housings also aid heat removal and now feature 10 pins
for a more rigid outer disc support.
The designers didn’t rest when it came to styling either. Given great
freedom with the 2008 ZX-10R, their efforts are illustrated in the clean
design with superb fit and finish. While shaping the rear frame, tank and
seat to offer improved ergonomics and increase the rider’s contact with
the bike, they also refined its aerodynamics from a new front cowling to
the sharp, minimalist tail cowl. The result of these efforts is a slim and
compact package with the presence befitting its Ninja name.
More Power, Everywhere
As though last year’s award-winning ZX-10R didn’t have enough horsepower,
Kawasaki engineers went to town on the engine again, throwing a toolbox
full of friction-reducing tricks at it to reduce mechanical loss and
improve combustion efficiency. The result? More power everywhere, with
mind-boggling off-corner acceleration.
Fine-Atomising Fuel Injection System
The ZX-10R’s fuel injection system receives 43mm throttle bodies with dual
throttle valves and new, ultra-fine-atomizing injectors providing a more
linear power delivery with a noticeable boost in the mid-range.
Class-Leading Handling
The ZX-10R’s short wheelbase and long swingarm gives it incredibly nimble
yet stable handling performance, while a repositioned centre of gravity,
revised stiffness balance, new motor mounts, more centralized mass, and a
relocated swingarm pivot combine to make it an even more potent track
performer than ever before.
Increased rear-wheel traction
Another advantage of the ZX-10’s short, compact frame and long swingarm is
a more compliant rear suspension action resulting in unbelievable rear
wheel traction and superb control in powersliding situations.
Aggressive Aerodynamic styling
One glance at the new ZX-10R and you just know it means business. The new
fairing, seat cowl and dual under-seat exhaust system come together in an
aggressive package that’s just begging to be put to the test. Designed for
ultra low-drag at high speeds, the new bodywork gives you the performance
advantage when pushing the extreme edge of the envelope.
Race-spec Suspension
The fully-adjustable front and rear suspension features preload,
compression and rebound damping adjustment plus top-out springs for
greater control when either end becomes ‘light’ under hard acceleration or
braking. Removable shims at the upper shock mount enable the ride height
to be adjusted.
Full-Titanium Exhaust
The super-trick, full-titanium exhaust system sure looks the part, but
it’s not just for show; a butterfly valve, located just before the exhaust
splits to the mufflers, adjusts in response to rpm, throttle position and
gear selection to prevent blowback and improve low-end response and
overall power delivery.
Radial Mounted Front Disc Brakes
Radial mounted 4-piston front brake callipers grip large diameter petal
discs for strong, controlled braking. The petal design provides improved
cooling and warp-resistance while a single pad-per-piston (Instead of one
large pad for each side) reduces the possibility of pad deformation.
Race-Bred Trick Bits
A track-focused thoroughbred, the ZX-10R features a concave tank top and
an idealized relationship between pegs, handlebars and seat for an
aggressive, compact riding position. Öhlins race-spec steering damper,
close-ratio transmission, slipper clutch, radial mount callipers, petal
disc brakes and fully adjustable suspension are all designed to make the
10R unbeatable on the track.

Kawasaki Ninja ZX-6R 2008 SuperSport
The natural
choice for your inner racer
To deliver the performance required in the demanding racetrack
environment, the Ninja ZX-6R’s ultra-high-rpm 599cc four-cylinder engine
cranks out a fat powerband with a linear torque curve and hard-hitting
acceleration across the entire rev range. Its impressive healthy mid-range
torque and over-rev capability are pure race bike, allowing riders to stay
on the gas where lower-revving machines are forced back off and shift.
The Ninja ZX-6R’s engine was specially designed for minimal internal
friction, so it is more responsive and allows the rider to easily modify
cornering lines with minor throttle adjustments. Utilizing stronger,
stiffer and more compact engine components than its predecessors resulted
in a slim and compact engine and chassis. Its racing heritage also
includes a close-ratio cassette transmission that makes it easy to keep
the ZX-6R screaming at its horsepower peak and a slipper clutch for quick
downshifts that don’t upset the rest of the chassis.
A compact, lightweight chassis design permits the Ninja ZX-6R to make a
fast entry –enhanced by the slipper clutch and powerful radial-mounted
front brake calipers –and maintain more cornering speed throughout the
turn.
The frame and swingarm were developed with an ideal balance of rigidity,
so the bike responds instantly and precisely to the rider’s every command.
Mass centralization, engine mount locations and a variety of other factors
were optimized to help its instant turn-in characteristics. Once in the
turn, the Ninja ZX-6R holds a line with precision and tracks through the
apex as if it were on rails. Completing this track-biased package are
fully-adjustable front and rear suspension units.
All these features mean very accurate chassis feedback, with the ZX-6R
communicating every move directly to the rider. The machine responds more
precisely and predictably to control inputs and shifts in body weight. The
result is a motorcycle that becomes one with the rider.
The entire package of frame, suspension, engine and bodywork enhances the
ZX-6R’s fun-to-ride factor while supplying the high-performance power of a
600cc Supersport racer and the nimble handling of a small-displacement GP
machine. The results are faster cornering speeds, quicker lap times and
even more worried looks on the competition’s faces. So let the opposition
compromise performance for rider-friendliness; the Ninja ZX-6R is a pure
expression of Kawasaki’s racing philosophy and is designed to take home
trophies.
Revised Chassis
Although the swing arm has been lengthened for 2006, the wheelbase has in
fact been shortened thanks to an all-new aluminium frame and revised swing
arm pivot point. This has afforded improvements in both cornering and
high-speed stability.
Enhanced Bodywork
The 2006 NINJA ZX-6R is the most aerodynamically efficient sport bike
Kawasaki has ever created, boasting highly efficient entry and exit
streams as well as less turbulence in the cockpit area to result in higher
top speeds at the race track and improved rider comfort on the highways.
Track-Optimised Clutch
Designed for maximum on-track performance, the multi-disc wet clutch
features a back-torque limiter to help reduce the rear-wheel hop that can
occur when down-shifting at high rpm.
Integrated Exhaust Valve
Integral to the new under-seat muffler is a servo-controlled exhaust valve
designed to modify the exhaust pressure waves and control back-pressure.
The result is improved engine performance and response in the low to mid
rpm ranges.
Racing Style Instrument Panel
The compact instrument cluster features a bar-type LCD tachometer, digital
LCD speedometer, stopwatch-style lap timer and adjustable shift indicator
lamp, which includes Off, Low and Bright settings. A digital temperature
gauge, clock and tripmeter are also included.
Improved Riding Position
By pulling back the steering head assembly, the distance between the
handlebars and foot pegs has been reduced, resulting in an idealized
performance riding position. Combined with the new frame, seat and fuel
tank shape, the rider now sits "in" the bike rather than "on" it.
Centralised Weight Distribution
An advanced split-seam fuel tank/airbox cover design allows the fuel tank
to be tucked neatly between the frame spars behind the intake system. This
centralised fuel mass improves chassis responsiveness and stability as
well as corner-to-corner weight transfer.
Easy-Access Airbox
The advanced split-seam fuel tank/airbox cover design allows for a larger,
more efficient airbox while enabling quick and easy access to the air
filter without the need to remove any major components.
Oval Shaped Sub-Throttle Technology
A first for a middleweight supersport bike is the adoption of oval-shaped
sub throttles. The throttles enable a 20% gain in airflow without the need
to increase the throttle body pitch, which would necessitate an increase
in engine width.
Serious Braking Performance
Radial-mounted, four-piston front brake callipers deliver exceptional feel
and performance; four independent brake pads are used – one for each
piston – for more even wear and improved heat resistance. The 300mm
petal-style front discs are 5.5mm thick for high heat capacity and the
front brake master cylinder uses a direct action for better rider
feedback.
High Performance Suspension
The fully adjustable Showa forks deliver improved ride quality and
outstanding cornering performance. At the rear, new UNI-TRAK® linkage
ratios provide a more linear action while new shock settings improve ride
quality and track performance.

Efficient, Easy to Ride and Great Looking
One look at the new Ninja 250R tells everyone that this bike is the
genuine article. With a new full-fairing similar to the Ninja ZX-6R and
-10R super-sport bikes, a single kicked-up muffler, UNI-TRAK® rear
suspension, high-performance petal disc brakes and a dual seat, this is
the most stylish performer in its category.
Compact size, exceptional personality and a low price tag highlight
Kawasaki’s new Ninja® 250R quarter-liter performer. Considering how much
fun it is to ride and the fact that it’s the only 250cc sports-bike sold
in the U.S., it’s no wonder the Ninja 250R has been a strong seller for
over a decade. Its successful blend of a rider-friendly engine,
easy-to-operate chassis and super-sport styling worthy of its Ninja
moniker, this model was developed to offer real world performance to
riders of all skill levels and goes to show that good things do come in
small packages.
At the core of the lightweight Ninja 250R is an engine that thrives on
high-rpm excitement. The gutsy 249cc parallel twin has been retuned to
spice up its smooth and predictable power delivery. It now offers more
low- and mid-range torque thanks to revisions to its dual overhead
camshafts and a new 2-into-1 exhaust system. A silky smooth six-speed
transmission tops off the sportbike equipment list, enabling the 250R to
exploit a powerband that’s sure to please riders with its beginner
friendly low-end grunt and a lively top-end rush that’ll keep seasoned
veterans satisfied. The coup de’ grace, is its ability to deliver
excellent fuel economy.
The 250R’s new fairing and windscreen not only look great, they deliver
improved wind protection for a wide range of riding situations. This
lightweight sportbike is loaded with even more rider-friendly features
such as an easy-to-read instrument panel and positive neutral finder.
A natural riding position and comfortable ergonomics combined with its
lightweight handling, easy controllability and improved throttle response
make the 250R a pleasure to ride on city streets. Also new for 2008 are
larger 17-inch wheels that offer great handling and improved stability. A
larger 290mm front brake rotor is gripped by a powerful 2-piston caliper
to provide a healthy dose of stopping power with a responsive feel at the
lever. Like Kawasaki’s other sport models, the Ninja 250R is fitted with
petal discs for efficient heat dissipation.
The simple formula of providing easy-handling agility, lightweight
responsiveness, and low ownership costs make the Ninja 250R a force to be
reckoned with in the entry-level sportbike category.
